Collecting

WORK  IN PROGRESS

From 20 years I collect old buttons; I've never counted them as other collectors do: a little for lazyness and the other reason is lack of time:

I mean I prefere do "other else”.

Anyway my collection is made by some thousands selected buttons, starting from 1600.

I think I wont never count them also because collection is continuously growing, but I'm always ordering it…

How did I begin?
In London's GRAY’S  I saw an old lady,”Miss Botton”, that sold very nice 1800s old buttons so I thought to buy some to re-sell and I also bought a little book on collectionism. Then I sold them but I soon regretted; from that time I begun to keep one for each type and the only important thing was that I must like it. I passed several years buying “with good nose”, then I decided to deepen, to srudy, buying books. I begun ordering the buttons by materials, styles or ages. A collection's branch is the one made of buttons collected by American misses in 1800: 999 little glass buttons variously worked and several colours, sewed on a cloth. Americans sew them on a string calling them Charm String. I forgot: button number 1000 was a gift from Prince Charming……
